Nestlé Green Hat
Nestlé Green Hat is a school-based sustainability awareness initiative by Nestlé Bangladesh PLC designed to inspire young students to become responsible environmental citizens from an early age. The campaign focuses on creating practical awareness around everyday sustainability issues through interactive learning, participation, and community engagement. With the message “A small hat. A big responsibility”, the program encourages students to understand that even small actions can contribute to building a greener and more sustainable future for Bangladesh.
The activities include interactive group exercises, simple & interactive engagement sessions, and recognition of selected student ambassadors known as “Green Hat Ambassadors.” These ambassadors play a pivotal role in the initiative by acting as Young Sustainability Leaders, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and promoting sustainable behaviors within their school premises and communities. Since its expansion from 2024, the initiative has already engaged around 5,000 students, building strong momentum, and this year aims to reach 6,000 students across selected schools around Gazipur area, further strengthening the ambassador-led ripple effect of environmental responsibility.
The campaign introduces students to four key sustainability pillars: plastic waste management, water conservation, tree plantation, and sanitation. Through engaging discussions, activities, and demonstrations, students learn the importance of reducing plastic pollution, valuing water as a precious resource, increasing green coverage through plantation, and maintaining healthy hygiene practices. The program is designed in a fun and interactive way so that students can easily connect sustainability concepts with their daily lives and develop long-term positive habits.
Nestlé Green Hat follows a structured school engagement model where the Nestlé team visits selected schools and conducts awareness sessions with students. The initiative also includes practical action components such as tree plantation activities within school premises, allowing students to actively participate in environmental protection rather than only learning theoretically. Through this campaign, Nestlé Bangladesh aims to nurture a generation of young leaders who care for the environment, inspire others through action, and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Bangladesh for the future.
